What happens when our AIs can see and understand our pictures?
The next quantum leap in useful AI
The “old” text-only world of AI
So far, our civilian experience with AI has been chatbots like ChatGPT. We type questions, comments, and instructions; the machine answers with text. Chatbots can write stories and make very detailed and obscure associations, from ancient philosophers to programming computers to fashion. However, so far, we have not been able to show them pictures that they could understand and think about. That is about to change.
The future is now
Ethan Mollick, one of the best observers of AI development in the business, describes his experience with designing a product by giving ChatGPT an idea of what he was interested in, having it create pictures of possible versions, critiquing its own images, and in conversation with Ethan, coming up with a very professional product complete with a marketing campaign.
This fascinating and easy to understand essay is not only a story about how fast AI is developing but a window on how image recognition will empower all of us to use AIs to do very useful things in new ways. And it’s coming in about a month…

What happens when our AIs can see and understand our pictures?
Well, boquete photographic club became a place where you could get your photos critique. They would tell you what’s good and what is not good. It would be refreshing to see what AI does in critique of photos. Or can it do that?
So are you saying that I do not need Photoshop anymore? I could just have AI do all my photo shop work?
